CHOOSING THE RIGHT BOX

Ordering a Locavore Box for the first time? We have lots of options to fit different family sizes, appetites and dietary needs.

We encourage you to experiment with different box types and sizes to find the right combination that works for you and your family.

The Large Locavore boxes come with food and recipes for 4 meals and contains two proteins [one meat and one fish]. Typically the box will have one meat meal, one fish meal, one pasta meal and a vegetarian meal that use alternate protein sources such as beans or eggs.

Our Small Locavore boxes are available in Surf, Turf or Vegetarian options and contain food and recipes for 3 meals.

The Large Grain + Dairy Free box contains a variety of seasonal produce, one roast [beef, pork or a whole chicken], 1lb of fish or 2lbs of shellfish and three beef, pork and/or lamb cuts [about +/-6lbs lbs total] and recipes for 5 meals

A Small Grain + Dairy Free box contains a variety of seasonal produce, 1lb of fish or 2lbs of shellfish and two Beef, pork and/or lamb cuts [about 3lbs lbs total] and recipes for 3 meals.

A Double Grain + Dairy Free box contains twice the amount of the fish and cuts of meat in the Large Grain + Dairy Free Box, but just one roast. This will be about 8-10lbs of total protein. This box also includes recipes for 5 meals.

The Quick + Simple Box is just as it sounds and includes the makings of 3 quick + simple locally sourced dinners that you can make in 30 minutes or less without a detailed recipe - perfect for those busy weeknights when you need to get the family fed fast. 

For the Quick + Simple Box pantry ingredients will be minimal and most meals won't require much more than butter, olive oil and condiments like hot sauce, mustard or salad dressing.

Our newest addition, the Vegan Box includes enough fresh veggies, protein packed beans, and whole grains to make 4 meals.

All meal recipes in our box are designed to serve 3-4 people, typically 2 adults and 2 children.

Those with 1 or 2 people at home might consider either one of our small boxes every week or a Large Box every other week. The 3 meals in the small box would certainly feed 1 or 2 people for the entire week, including some lunches. Ordering the Large Box every other week would let you have both a meat and a fish.

Sometimes, alternating between a Large Box and a Small Box works best for those with smaller families or those with kids with small apetites.

The right 'fit' will depend on a lot of factors - like whether you take leftovers for lunch, how often you eat out, and appetites.
